Ten Flatteners Response

I think that the "flattener" that has had the most impact on the world was Netscape going public. Netscape allowed everyone to access and surf the internet, which greatly changed the face of the economy, and made the world that much smaller because people could access people and things from other countries online. Netscape going public lead to the internet and technology based world and economy that we live in today. Other factors may have had a big impact too, but I feel that what Netscape going public lead to, and how prevelent the internet now is (even though Netscape is no longer around), make the impact much greater than for any other flattener.

Netscape had a huge impact on the technological world. I don't think society today could function without the internet. They led the way in advancing technology, and more specifically, the internet. However, I stand by my opinion, and believe that the "steroids" has had the biggest impact in comparison to the other ten flatteners.Communication via the internet and other applications such as Skype and other video chatting programs, have made talking to someone anywhere in the world easier than it has ever been. Mobile steriods talks about the expansion of wireless internet. This one thing has changed the definition of "business on-the-go". People no longer have to be in an office to do work. The internet can be accessed virtually anywhere through a smart phone. This allows business men and women to check emails directly from their phone. Mobile steroids has made businesses more efficient. Steroids as a whole, has had the biggest impact out of all of the flatteners.

I definitely agree that the invention and release of netscape was a huge flattener for the world. It changed everything we once knew. The truth is that the internet completely altered the way we do most things. Sometimes we even find our reliance on technology to be a bit of a downfall. I know that it's definitely unfortunate when your technology fails and you don't have a paper copy to reinforce what was on a computer.

Not only were people's personal lives changed, but the business world was completely altered as well. Scheduling was once done in an appointment book, people's contact information was kept in an address book and things were sent by mail. The internet opened businesses up to e-mail, online programs to use for their scheduling and programs where they could store their contact information. The internet opened the world up to so many possibilities and options they never knew they had. The internet also made the population more dependent and lazy as a whole, frowning upon having to do any extra work. For that reason, this flattener is completely significant. It is frightening because it seems like down the road something might be released that could completely replace the need for human beings.
